Yung Gravy has addressed claims made by Hawk Tuah Girl, who said she turned down his date proposal.
Hawk Tuah Girl, real name Haliey Welch, gained fame earlier this year after a video of her offering explicit bedroom tips went viral.
Since then, she’s enjoyed the spotlight, appearing on stage at a Zach Bryan concert and throwing the first pitch at a New York Mets game, all while amassing an impressive 2.3 million followers on Instagram.
Among her many admirers is rapper Yung Gravy. Haliey alleged that Yung Gravy had messaged her on Instagram, expressing his interest in taking her out. However, she was hesitant.
Speaking to TMZ, Haliey shared, “He wants to take me out on a date. I was like, ‘Nah I don’t know about that.'”
In response, Yung Gravy has now released a screenshot of their conversation from July 31 to clear the air.
The screenshot, which he posted on Twitter, includes his message: “Damn I just looked at ur page and u really out here doing this s**t lol congrats b [sic].”
He went on in a second DM: “When i went to find ur page i was fr just tryna salute u for being a certified top champ.”
“This aint just me trying to finesse cause idk ur mans situation,” the rapper went on. “But i wanted to have u at a show next month to hear my country s**t.”
Yung Gravy shared a screenshot on Twitter of his messages with Haliey, clarifying that his intentions were misunderstood and claiming that being friendly nowadays can be misinterpreted.
He suggested that he was merely inviting her to his concert, not asking for a date.
In response, Haliey posted her own screenshot from their Instagram chat, highlighting that Yung Gravy, whose real name is Matthew Raymond Hauri, initiated the conversation.
She playfully commented, “Close but no gravy,” adding another layer of intrigue to the situation.
The discussion around Yung Gravy’s personal life continues to draw attention, especially following his past romantic link with Sheri Easterling, the mother of social media star Addison Rae, who is 17 years his senior.
He famously brought Sheri to the VMAs in 2022 as his date, just a month after they began communicating through direct messages.
However, their relationship was brief, as they parted ways a few months later.
