Lily Allen has faced criticism from a few radio hosts after explaining why she had to return her family dog.
The English singer shared that the dog had ‘ruined her life’ by consuming her and her children’s passports, which contained their visas.
This incident prevented her children from visiting their father, which had not happened for months.
She ended up returning the dog to the shelter, as she revealed in her discussion on the BBC-commissioned podcast “Miss Me?” hosted by Miquita Oliver.
Australian radio personalities, Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson from the “Kyle and Jackie O Show,” commented on the 39-year-old’s decision after hearing her story on the podcast.
Allen mentioned during the episode about pets: “We actually did adopt a dog already, but then it ate my passport and so I took her back to the home.”
“She ate all three of our passports [her and her two children] and they had our visas in.
“And I cannot tell you how much money it cost me to get everything replaced, because it was in Covid and so it was just an absolute logistical nightmare.”
“And because the father of my children lives in England, I couldn’t take them back to see their dad for like four months, five months, because this f***ing dog had eaten the passports.”
“And I just couldn’t look at her. I was like ‘you’ve ruined my life’,” Allen confessed.
‘The Fear’ singer mentioned that the dog was very difficult to manage and even described her as a ‘very badly behaved dog’ despite attempts to train her, with the passport incident being the ‘final straw’.
On the “Kyle and Jackie O Show” this Friday, 23 August, radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson reacted to Allen’s explanation for returning the dog, expressing disapproval of her actions.
“Poor puppy,” remarked Jackie, while Kyle shared, “I’m off her now.”
He questioned the circumstances, saying, “Look, I understand the annoyance. But all the passports just laying on the floor with a brand new dog?”
Jackie questioned the singer’s responsibility: “Isn’t that all on you? You had them in a place where a puppy could access it?”
As Kyle found it hard to pinpoint the exact nature of the action, Jackie called it ‘cold’, which Kyle agreed to, noting it was ‘very cold’ of Allen to return the dog to the shelter.
However, Allen has indicated that her family is now considering another pet, according to The Daily Mail.
In a conversation with broadcaster Steve Jones, Allen shared, “We maybe are getting a new puppy in the next couple of weeks.”
“Me and the girls have been thinking about a name and we settled on Jude Bellingham.”
