Meghan Markle Claims 'Wearing An Earring Is The Most Powerful Thing I Can Do'

Meghan Markle believes that wearing high-end fashion and accessories is “one of the most powerful things” she can do.

The Duchess of Sussex has been working hard to establish herself as a leader in human rights and feminism, as well as a force in media, business, and lifestyle branding.

In her discussions, such as on the now-canceled Archetypes podcast, she has tackled issues holding women back.

Her controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey openly criticized the Royal Family, and she has secured multimillion-dollar deals with Spotify and Netflix. She’s also preparing to launch her luxury lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

During a recent tour in Nigeria, which she and Prince Harry unofficially dubbed as their home country visit, the tour faced criticism yet highlighted her continued efforts to shape her public persona.

Despite her many roles and ambitions, at 43, Meghan sees her fashion choices as a key influence, especially during events under global scrutiny.

She told The New York Times, “Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing, then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting.”

“That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do, and that’s simply wearing, like, an earring.”

In an article for The Telegraph, royal commentator Camilla Tominey took a critical stance on Meghan’s recent comments. Tominey wrote, “Really? Whatever happened to… ‘Shaping the future through business and philanthropy’? Or even her short life as a member of the Royal Family, apparently spent dedicated to public service?”

Tominey argued that Meghan’s statement underscores “just how fast the Sussexes have fallen,” suggesting that Meghan’s earlier charitable efforts have been overshadowed by more self-serving interests.

She added, “Meghan’s pretensions towards charity have been supplanted by more important concerns. Her new ‘advocacy work’ is for herself and her famous friends.”
