John Cena Remembers 'Awkward' Sex Scene With Amy Schumer: She Was 'Very Into' It

John Cena has taken on a variety of film roles, from an impersonator in “Ricky Stanicky” to an ex-special forces operator in “Freelance.”

In 2015, he played one of Amy Schumer’s character’s love interests in “Trainwreck.” Cena recently discussed an ‘awkward sex scene’ he filmed with Schumer, who he said was ‘very into’ it.

In the movie, Amy’s character asks her fitness-obsessed boyfriend Steven (played by Cena) to spice things up by ‘talking dirty’ during sex.

Steven’s awkward attempts include promising to ‘fill you with protein’ and ‘put my green drink in you’, leading to some humorously out-of-place Mandarin phrases.

Cena described the experience on the Club Shay Shay podcast, saying, “Amy is an angel, she made the environment so comfortable, and then when I got the part, eventually they were like, ‘Yeah, it’s a sex scene. We want you to do elaborate and crazy stunt sex, and all those lines you had?”

“We’re probably not going to use them, we’re just going to do this stunt sex scene.”

Despite fans being somewhat accustomed to seeing him in the nude, Cena admitted that filming a sex scene is ‘the worst’.

He illustrated the lack of privacy during filming by pointing out during the podcast, “This is the thing — right now, you guys at home think it’s just us. No, there’s a whole f**king world back here,” indicating the presence of the film crew and highlighting how many people are involved in making a movie.

He added, “There is nothing intimate about it. Nothing. So it’s real embarrassing, and on top of that, to do a comedic sex scene when you’re making fun of yourself.”

John Cena commented on the unique challenge of performing ‘the most awkward sex’ possible with Amy Schumer on set, with an audience of crew members watching.

He noted that it didn’t ‘suck’, but was ‘just different than you all think it is’.

While Cena shared these details about the filming of the memorable 2015 scene, Amy Schumer, the star and writer of the film, responded humorously on her Instagram Stories.

The comedian playfully rebuked: “John, how dare you?”

Accompanying a broken heart emoji, she wrote: “That sex scene meant a lot to me, and I was, like, very into it. And I’m in love with you.”
